TAA's 2020 Conference Call for Proposals Is Now Closed

Thank you to all who submitted proposals for TAA's 33rd Annual Textbook & Academic Authoring Conference. TAA's Conference Committee will review all proposals and notify submitters of the status of proposals by November 19, 2019.

TAA's conference will be held at The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter located in the heart of beautiful downtown San Diego, CA , June 12-13, 2020. A highly interactive event, the conference will be attended by authors and aspiring authors of textbooks, journal articles, and other academic works, as well as by industry professionals from across the country.

Selection Process      Presenter Submission Guidelines

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Time Management and Writing Productivity
  • Tech Tools to Enhance Your Works
  • Publishing Industry Updates & Trends
  • Navigating Copyright and Permissions
  • Savvy Contract and Royalty Negotiating & Monitoring
  • Marketing Your Works and Creating Your Brand
  • Authoring in an Open Access/OER Environment
  • Non-Traditional Paths to Getting Published

Session proposals can be submitted for the following formats:

Traditional Presentation
: 60-minute session featuring one to three speakers; approximately a 40-50 minute presentation with time for 10-15 minutes of Q&A.

Panel Discussion: 60 or 90 minute session with multiple presenters. Active audience participation is encouraged and expected. 

Roundtable Presentation: 60-minute small-group discussion moderated by the roundtable presenter and focusing on one authoring or publishing topic.

Selection Process

Please submit your proposal by October 7, 2019. The 2020 TAA Conference Committee will review all proposals and notify you of the status of your submission by November 19, 2019.

Presenter Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions will require a 75-word bio and .jpg photo for each presenter to be used for program publicity. A PDF of the bio(s) and the photo(s) can be uploaded to the proposal form.
  • Presenters are responsible for their own travel and lodging costs related to the conference.
  • Presenters should meet posted dates and deadlines; failure to do so may lead to removal from the program.
  • Presentations should be pre-loaded on a thumb drive. TAA will provide computers and AV equipment in all session rooms.
  • Handouts and PowerPoint slides are encouraged for all presentations. 
  • Presentations should not be of a commercial nature.
  • Accepted presenters receive free conference registration for the day of their presentation.
