What is the difference between a textbook author and an academic author? "TAA considers academic authors to be authors who write journal articles, academic books, write academic related grants, dissertations, etc. Textbook authors write more royalties-based works, like textbooks, CD-ROMs, supplements, etc. While both are academic pursuits, each group has different interests and needs. Textbook authors will be interested in contracts, royalties, the used book issue, etc. and academic authors will be more interested in peer review, getting their journal articles accepted for publication, tenure, issues like open access, etc." |
