Start
revisions early
Award-winning math
author Mike Sulllivan, who has several texts in multiple editions, said
the revision process is continuous. Sullivan recommends that authors
begin a file of correctable errors as soon as an edition comes out.
He also recommended starting another file early for new material for
the next edition.
Nutrition author
Peggy Stanfield said that it should take nine months to a year to do
a new edition. Any faster, she said, and you may introduce inadvertantly
incorrect information. "Keep in touch with your publisher about when
they want a new edition and when to start," said Stanfield. That way,
she said, you can be prepared when it comes time for a new edition and
it won't come as a surprise.
