Serve as a TAA Textbook Award Judge
TAA is seeking textbook authors and/or subject matter experts willing to serve as judges for its 2018 Textbook Awards program, which recognizes emerging and veteran textbook authors. The McGuffey Longevity Award recognizes textbooks and learning materials whose excellence has been demonstrated over time. The Textbook Excellence Award recognizes excellence in current textbooks and learning materials. The Most Promising New Textbook Award recognizes excellence in 1st edition textbooks and learning materials.
Nominations for 2018 awards will be accepted between September 1 and November 1, 2017.
Judging is conducted through an online ballot system. Click here to view a sample judging ballot. Ballot links are emailed to judges once they are assigned to nominated titles, but mainly between November 1 and 15, 2017. Books are mailed to judges by December 1, 2017. The deadline for receiving completed ballots is February 1, 2018. Judges receive a $100 stipend for each book they judge. They receive $200 for judging a series. Judges remain anonymous. TAA members and non-members can serve as judges.
If you have already volunteered to serve as a judge, we will contact you if we receive nominations in your discipline. If you are interested in serving as a judge, please complete this form.
Here's what previous Textbook Award judges have to say about their experience:
"Serving as a Textbook Award judge was thoroughly enjoyable. There is a different mindset used in reviewing for these awards than usual scholarly reviews (considering aspects of presentation and professionalism, not just content). I look forward to having a chance to judge again."
