Horton Grand Hotel, San Diego Area Information Making the most of a San Diego visit The Horton Grand Hotel is a short cab or bus ride away from the world-famous San Diego Zoo. The zoo is in Balboa Park, which houses an excellent restaurant, the Prado; two wonderful art museums, the Museum of Man, and a newly remodeled and enlarged Natural History Museum; and the hands-on Space Museum. Within walking distance of the hotel is Horton Plaza, a shopping mall. In the other direction, down to the water to Seaport Village, are small specialty shops, plenty of restaurants, and lots of walking with views to Coronado island, which is not really an island. For views you can take a water taxi over to Coronado and rent a bicycle. It will remind you of Middle America. You will find a lot of good restaurants and shopping, and you can visit the renowned Hotel del Coronado. Marilyn Monroe made Some Like It Hot here. If you have a car and would like to visit a little father afield, try La Jolla. It's fun to mingle with the wealthy. Or you can drive to northern San Diego County and visit the Wild Animal Park. For baseball fans, the New York Yankees will be playing the San Diego Padres at Qualcomm Stadium. Return
