TAAF Mission Statement

To support the creation and the creators of quality educational and academic materials. To this purpose, TAAF shall endeavor to provide access to financial assistance, human resources, and training in support of textbook writing, and in support of academic research, development and scholarly publication; shall endeavor to enhance the public appreciation and demand for diverse educational and academic materials; and shall work to encourage educational, academic and publishing institutions to produce intellectually rich and varied products consistent with the concepts of universal public education.

About TAAF

The TAA Foundation was formed in 2003 to raise funds to support projects that benefit text and academic authors. TAAF's current projects include a study of the diversity of textbook authorship in the United States, with the goal of encouraging more minorities to write textbooks; and a study of the U.S. Textbook Adoption Process.

Two years ago, TAAF met the requirements of a $15,000 matching gift from the Text and Academic Authors Association. Last year, TAA increased its matching gift to the Foundation to $20,000, but we were unable to reach that level of donations. For the current fiscal year, TAA's challenge is divided into three $10,000 steps: for the first $10,000 raised, TAA will match it dollar for dollar. For the second and the third successful levels at these amounts, TAA will match them dollar for dollar. So our total potential matching challenge this year is $30,000.To receive these matching funds, TAAF must raise an equal amount from individual gifts and grants from corporations and foundations. Your gift to the TAA Foundation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by TAA's matching gift if the Foundation is able to raise the entire $20,000 by April 1, 2007. That means your $25 gift becomes $50; your $100 gift becomes $200; and your $1,000 gift becomes $2,000!

Gifts to the TAA Foundation (a 501c(3) charitable organization) are tax-deductible to the donor to the extent permissible by law.
