Sessions

Diane Feldman

Christopher Kenneally

It's 2007. Do You Know Where Your Editor is?
Presenters: Diane Feldman, Principal, AuthorCraft Editorial Services & Christopher Kenneally, Director of Author Relations for the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC)

Saturday, June 23
1:15 - 2:15 p.m.

Preliminary conference schedule

In publishing today, accelerated publication timelines, corners cut enough to make a stone bleed, and overworked, undertrained staff can mean that your book or manuscript may not receive the editor attention that you and your audience expect. To ensure the best results for all your hard work, you should know what to expect from editors, how best to communicate with them, and how to recognize the signs that you should look for your own editor.

The presenters will engage participants in a lively discussion about working with editors to facilitate writing projects and enhance the final results.

Participants will learn:

  • The different types of services that editors provide
  • The editorial services typically provided by publishers of books, journals and other publications
  • How to communicate with editors and establish the level of editorial service to be provided
  • When to seek editorial assistance for a writing project and where to look
  • The cost of editorial services and how to get the most value for your editorial budget

About the Presenters

Diane Feldman is the principal of AuthorCraft Editorial Services (www.Authorcraft.net). She has been writing and editing professionally for over 20 years. Christopher Kenneally is Director of Author Relations for the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). He is responsible for organizing and hosting programs that address the business needs of authors of all backgrounds, from academics to freelancers. Among other activities, he is host and moderator for an ongoing series of writing conferences called, "Beyond the Book"; the programs are frequently broadcast nationally on C-SPAN's Book-TV and in Canada on the BookTelevision network. An award-winning journalist and author of "Massachusetts 101," Kenneally has reported for the New York Times, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, The Independent of London, and WGBH-TV (Boston).
